5 ways to develop a Good Behaviour in Your Child.

“The sign of great parenting is not the child’s behaviour… The sign of truly great parenting is the parent’s behaviour.” Each child is different and every parent has his or her way of dealing it. Being a parent we have to guide our child in every bit of activity they do, to make them understand and learn the difference between right and wrong. It’s our responsibility to inculcate a good behaviour in our child. Here are few tips :-

·       Be a good Example: - Children’s love to imitate, and they naturally think whatever their parents do is right. So, we must set a good example.

·       Encourage a level of Responsibility: - We must give our children opportunities to help us.

·       Acknowledge a good behaviour: - Show that you are pleased when your child is doing things that you approve of, such as giving another child some of his or her apple slices, or playing nicely with toys.

·       Discipline: - When your child does something you dislike, say so. Keep it simple: “You kicked Tiara. Kicking is wrong because it hurts people.” We should always talk about the behaviour as being wrong, rather than the child being “naughty” or “bad”. Don’t unintentionally reward bad behaviour by giving your child extra attention because of it.

·       Differentiate between right & wrong : - Give your child the opportunity to learn what is unacceptable. We should make them understand that colouring on drawing book is acceptable but colouring on wall is unacceptable.

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” So be a good teacher and a best parent because we are responsible for their development and learning.

Safety Precautions during Holi

Holi is a festival of colours. It is one of a beautiful way to celebrate the arrival of spring. The first day we begin with bonfire which depicts the victory of good over evil. On second day, children’s and youth spray coloured powdered solutions, dance, laugh & celebrate to the core. It is also a festival where people unite keeping their grudges away, as it is said “Bura na mano, Holi hai...” Kids love buying different types of pichkaris and water colours. Below are few safety precaution we need to be careful about:-

·       Use Eco-friendly Colours: - We should use Herbal, natural & skin friendly colours, as these colours are easy to wash off & cause no damage to the skin.

·       Save Environment: - We should Respect our Natural Resources & avoid wasting too much of water.

·       Oiling: - It is essential that we apply coconut oil on our hair & water proof moisturizer on our face, before stepping out of home.

·       Spare Animals: - We should play Holi with humans not with animals. We should guide our children not to throw colours on dogs and cats.

·       Wear full sleeves: - Try wearing full sleeves shirts or t-shirts & leggings that cover your legs fully, so that your sensitive body parts are not exposed to the harmful colours.

·       Wear Sunglasses: - We should protect our eyes by wearing sunglasses. If colours enters the eyes, immediately rinse them with cold water.

·       Avoid harsh soaps: - We should try using baby shampoos and soap to get rid of the colours, avoid using harsh soaps and shampoos which will only spoil your skin.

Wishing all my readers the best Holi festival
Filled with happiness and sweet moments
       To cherish now and forever.
            Happy Holi”

Advantages of Breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding#parentingtips#indianmummyblogger#motherhoodjourney#By Amrita Manku..

Breastfeeding is a preferred method of infant feeding for the first 4-6 months. Breastfeeding has provided women with a perfect way to nurture their babies. It naturally binds mother and baby together, making them inseparable. One of the key to successful breastfeeding is simply trusting that you can do it.
Some advantages of breastfeeding are as follows:-
• Helps the infants fight infections, diarrhoea and respiratory infections. Its better for your baby.
• It is essential for a premature baby.
• It acts as a protective shield against allergies, asthma and obesity. It sets the foundation for good health in adult life.
• It is safe and always fresh.
• Breast fed babies are least likely to be overfed. Breastfed babies are less likely to be obese in later life, or to develop diabetes and high blood pressure.
• Breastfeeding promotes good jaw and tooth development. Breastfed babies may have fewer dental problems.
• Breastfeeding automatically promotes close mother child contact.
• Reduces risk of breast cancer or ovarian cancer.
• It helps the uterus regain its normal size after pregnancy. It helps you to get back in shape.

  • Its more convenient. It is much easier to breastfeed than to prepare and warm a bottle, especially in the middle of the night.

  • It exposes your baby to a wide range of tastes. The flavour of breastmilk varies depending on what you eat. This may help with weaning.

  • It is enjoyable. Babies nurse for comfort as well as food, and breastfeeding is the quickest way to calm a baby who is distressed.

  • It helps you to relax. You have to sit down to nurse your baby, which means you can rest.

How Long to Breastfeed :- Ideally, women should breastfeed their babies exclusively for six months and then continue to nurse for at least the first year, even after solids have been introduced.
"Breastfeeding is a gift that lasts a lifetime "

Mamma, let’s go for Garden Yoga

Nowadays, children’s love to play on gadgets and electronic devices so much that they are less exposed to the outside world. During our childhood, our mothers played a vital role to take us to the park every day for our physical activities. We used to play much more than our kids are playing now. I personally too make it a point that my son performs some form of physical activity rather than sitting indoors. They tend to learn so many things from outside world:-

-         They know how to make friends.

-         They create team building amongst themselves.

-         Sharing and caring etiquette is developed within them and others.

My son is so used to this routine that as soon as it is 6pm he starts saying, “Mamma, let’s go garden.” Once I was going to a park there I saw kids performing garden yoga. It was so much fun to see such a nice concept, very informative and playful for kids. Their teacher was teaching them in such a beautiful way, that they were enjoying each and every single pose. I would love to share garden yoga with all my friends:-

1)  PRETEND TO BE A TREE: - This is known as a Tree pose. You need to stand on one leg, bend the other knee & place the sole of your foot on your inner thigh. This pose teaches us how to balance our body.

2) PRETEND TO BE A FROG: - This is known as Squat Pose. Come down to a squat with your knees apart and your arms resting between your knees. Touch your hands to the ground. Jump up like a frog and then return to a squat position. This pose teaches us how to focus and increase our awareness.

3) PRETEND TO BE A SEED:-This is known as Child’s Pose. Sit back on your heels, slowly bring your forehead down to rest on the floor in front of your knees, rest your arms down alongside your body, and take a few deep breaths. Pretend to be a seed in the garden. This pose teaches us how to surrender our self to almighty & keep our ego down.

4) PRETEND TO BE A BUTTERFLY: - This is known as Butterfly Pose. Gently come up and sit on your buttocks with a tall spine. Bend your legs, place the soles of your feet together, and gently flap your legs like the wings of a butterfly. This increases your flexibility.

5) PRETEND TO BE A FLOWER: - This is known as Flower Pose. From Butterfly Pose, lift your bent legs, balance on your sitting bones, and weave your arms under your legs with your palms facing up. Pretend to be a blossoming flower.

The kids were really having a nice time. The technique and method used was unique & useful for kids to relate with the environment.
So we been such an amazing mothers, we should make it a routine that our children’s lead a gadget free evening and spend quality time in the park making cute little friends.
