Few days ago, I was shopping things
like erasers, pencils, chocolates, sketch pens etc. My son was very curious to
know why I was shopping all these stuff.
Suvvir: “Mamma, why are you shopping all
these stuffs of koi bag, it’s not my birthday?”
Mamma: “It’s Lord Krishna Birthday, remember
every year in our society we celebrate Janmashtmi, where mamma puts all these
goodies in a pot. We come together and pray to Lord Krishna to appear in our
heart and remove all the bad qualities and make us happy and joyful.”
Suvvir: “yup, Mamma tell me something more about
Lord Krishna, it’s so interesting”
I felt first time my son was asking me far
more sensible questions than his technologies and mechanic set toys. Being an
adult, it’s important that we should not sweep such topics under the carpet. It’s
important that children understand the significance and celebrate every
festival in the right mood and spirit. I explained him the whole story like:
Lord
Krishna was born in the month of Shravan, at midnight, in the jail. When he was
born, he appeared as four handed Vishnu and then upon Mother Devaki’s request
he assumed the form of a cute little baby with two hands. The uniqueness of
Krishna’s birth is that not only did he choose his time and place of birth, but
also choose his parents. His birth is not ordinary, rather extra ordinary and
very special. Little Krishna was a small, naughty, charming child. Lord Krishna
was also known as “Makhanchor” as he used to eat makhan by stealing from others
as well from his own house. To get makhan he used to break earthen pots and
form pyramid to get butter/curd/milk to reach those pots along with his
friends. This is the reason we also get to see dahi handi competition during
Janamashtami.
After seeing his curiosity I wanted to show Suvvir a play where
he can visually see the life of Lord Krishna and understand much better. That
was when I came across a Children’s Play named “Natkhat Krishna” by Kids
Connect Entertainment. A play in
English that will appeal to kids of all ages with its high energy action and
soft playful moments. I decided to take Suvvir for this play and trust me this
was the best decision I took for my son.
A play which enacted the life of Krishna, right
from childhood. The sets were designed so beautifully
that it brought alive Krishna's Vrindavan. The lights, colour and sound all added
to the beauty without interrupting the drama. There were no religious
verses or chants but instead the makers had used everyday language to
share messages of friendship, good vs. evil, and good values.
When I compared Krishna’s story in our daily lives, I
realised each small kid is Krishna. Each Mother is blessed to have a Krishna.
We being a mother like yashoda maiya loves our child unconditionally, avoiding
all their mistakes. They really love to grab our attention by doing all silly
things and get pampered just like Krishna. They don’t know the meaning of mine
and yours and hence feel that there is no difference in eating or taking things
from others, just like Krishna, who said “Makhan is makhan. How it can be yours
or mine.” I’m indeed blessed to have Krishna in my life who is naughty, cute and
a loving baby. My family and I enjoyed watching Natkhat Krishna and
recommend it to every family as a must watch to kick start the festive season. Kidz Connect leaves you with good memories of
Krishna and I guarantee you and your kids will not just be humming the music
for weeks but also discuss various points of the play.
